Focus Mode Template Setup

Focus Mode performance depends heavily on how templates are structured. Use the following guidelines to help ensure accurate content placement and a better dictation experience.

Use Clear Section Headers & Keep Text Simple

Each anatomical section should be defined using H2 headers so Focus Mode can recognize where dictated content belongs such as Lungs, Heart & Abdomen. Use short, simple negative text statements within each section.

Best results come from:

• short statements
• one idea per sentence
• clearly scoped findings

Avoid long or compound negative statements that cover multiple findings in one sentence.

Avoid Picklists in Focus Mode Templates

Do not use picklists in templates intended for Focus Mode. Picklists can reduce the quality of content placement and are not recommended for this workflow.

Avoid Nested or Tabbed Subheadings

Focus Mode works best when template structure is simple.

Avoid:

• nested headings
• tabbed subheadings
• overly complex section hierarchies
  
  Use a clean, flat structure with clearly defined H2 sections whenever possible.
   

Require Sentence Completion with “Period”

When dictating in Focus Mode, each sentence should end with “period.”

This helps Focus Mode process and place content correctly.

Add New Headers During Dictation

If an additional anatomical structure header needs to be added during dictation, dictating the header name followed by a colon will format it as an H2 header.
 

Example:
“Liver:”
“Pleura:”
 

Recommend Microphone Settings

For best performance, turn the feature “Record while pressed” ON in the Sirona microphone settings.

What Users Should Expect

Focus Mode works best with:

• clearly structured templates
• simple negative text
• consistent section formatting

It may not perform as well with:

• Templates that do not contain headings
• highly complex templates with nested sections
• templates designed around picklists

       

    
Initial Scope

Initial use of Focus Mode may be limited to certain study types, such as CT and X-ray, with broader support planned over time.

Important Notes

• Focus Mode must be enabled by a client Platform Administrator for the user before use
• A feature flag request to Sirona via a support ticket for REPORTER_FOCUS_MODE is required
• Templates must be formatted appropriately for Focus Mode to provide value

Recommended Review Checklist

Before rolling out a template for Focus Mode, confirm:

• H2 headers are used for each anatomical structure section
• negative text is short and simple
• no picklists are included
• no nested or tabbed subheadings are used
• users are trained to end each sentence with “period”
• microphone settings are configured appropriately
