Use Search to locate patient studies across your organization by patient name, MRN, accession number, study date, modality, facility, and other supported criteria. Search is intended for broader study lookup, including older studies not shown in recently read worklists.

Open Search

Click the magnifying glass icon in the left navigation. It appears above the worklist icon.

Search fields

Search supports fields such as:

  • Patient Name
  • Medical Record Number (MRN)
  • Accession Number
  • Study Date Range
  • Modality
  • Facility

Additional patient demographics are available in the search drawer, which expands from the search panel to provide extended filtering options. At least one field must be populated to run a search.

Search for a study

  1. Open Search.
  2. Enter one or more search values in the available fields.
  3. Some fields may become unavailable as you add criteria - this is expected behavior based on the search logic.
  4. Select Search or press Enter to display matching results.
  5. Review the active search criteria shown at the top of the results list to confirm which filters were applied.
  6. To start over, click Clear Results (top right) or Reset (bottom left).

Note: If no results appear, verify your search criteria and confirm the study date range includes the expected exam date.

Actions from Search Results

Two actions are available for each study in the results list:

  • Select a patient's information to open the Patient Jacket.
  • Select the pencil icon next to a study to open Exam Manager in a separate window.

Open the Patient Jacket

Click anywhere on the patient's information in the results list to open the Patient Jacket. The patient jacket opens and displays the patients’ related studies and additional study details.

Search displays active criteria at the top of the results list, making it easy to confirm which filters are applied. Use Search for broader study lookup, including studies not shown in recently read worklists.

Open Exam Manager

Select the pencil icon next to a study. Exam Manager opens in a separate window. See the Exam Management chapter for full guidance on what you can do in Exam Manager.

For Study Retrieval

On the right hand side of the patient jacket click on the three dots to:

  • Download Dicom
  • Download Report
  • Resend Report (only appears when there is a report that was created in Sirona)
