Moving Exams

If a study was verified and sent to Pending but then discovered to have an issue, you can return it to QC from within the Viewer.

1. Open the images by clicking the eye icon on the study row.
2. In the Viewer, click the exclamation mark icon (!) to trigger Move to QC.

3. Add a comment explaining why the study is being returned.

4. Click Move to QC.

The study is removed from Pending and returns to the QC worklist.

NOTE: Feature Flag Required 

The Move to QC option requires the MOVE TO QUALITY CONTROL feature flag. If you do not see the exclamation mark icon in the Viewer, contact your Platform Administrator or Sirona Support to request enablement.

Common QC Scenarios

Scenario 1: Wrong patient name on images

Stop — do not verify If the images appear to belong to a different patient than the order, do not verify the study. Add an exam comment documenting the discrepancy and contact Sirona Support immediately. Image reassignment requires backend intervention.

Scenario 2: Missing images or incomplete series

• Check the image count in the Viewer against the expected series for the protocol.
• If images are missing, contact the modality technologist to resend.
• If the resend resolves the issue, proceed with QC review and verify normally.
• If the issue cannot be resolved at the modality, contact Sirona Support.

Scenario 3: Minor demographic correction needed

• Open Order Management from the pencil icon on the QC study row.
• Select Manage Patient Info.
• Edit the incorrect field (name, DOB, sex, MRN issuer).
• Save Changes, then return to QC and verify the study.

Scenario 4: STAT study needs priority visibility

• Confirm the Priority field on the study is set to STAT in Order Management.
• Verify the study immediately — STAT studies must move to Pending without delay.
• If the radiologist needs to be notified urgently, use the in-app ellipsis to Assign the study directly to the on-call radiologist.

Scenario 5: Images are good but procedure description is wrong

• Open Order Management from the pencil icon.
• Update the Procedure Description field.
• Save Changes.
• Verify the study.
